‘One of a kind’: 6-year-old dies from surgery complications days before starting 1st grade

ATLANTA (ANF/Gray News) - A 6-year-old Georgia girl reportedly died due to complications from tonsil surgery days before she was supposed to start first grade.Emersyn “Emmy” Bridgers, a student at Euharlee Elementary School, was excited for first grade. She had already picked out her rose-themed outfit for the open house, according to Bartow County Schools.Emmy died suddenly last week, said the school district in a Facebook post on Thursday. The district described the 6-year-old as “one of a kind” and said her teacher called her “little momma” because of the care she showed to her classmates.“Emmy never met a stranger. She loved everyone, was friends with everybody, and was always ready to give a hug.
