SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Google announced Tuesday it plans to remove its search engine from schools’ use if they choose to remove AI tools from their classrooms. The move comes after growing criticism from advocacy groups and senators about the spread of Google’s AI services available in education.Google’s AI products, branded under the name Gemini, were automatically activated for schools using Google Classroom. Google markets its Gemini chatbot as an educational tool that can help educators plan lessons or tutor students.Schools that choose to allow AI will get the option of using the new tools.
